Help need handbox - Found

Hi All,

After a longish imaging session last night I was packing up the scope, when I did something a bit silly. As I'm in polar mode now, I take the handbox off after I have finished to make it easier to pick the scope off the wedge. I managed to drop the handbox onto my driveway, lost the bottom line off the LCD display. Opened it up this morning, I've broken the LCD display :-(

So...

Does anyone have a spare controller that they don't want and would be willing to part with for a reasonable price? Does anyone have a dud controller with the LCD still intact? Can I use an 495 or 497 display?

Cheers
Stuart

I had a similar problem with a 495 and managed to fix it with some fine soldering

It sounds like you will need the Autostar 497 if you want all the goto controls.

Normaly around $200 retail but cheaper on Ebay.

Hi Stuart, sorry I don't have any Autostar II controllers,I am not sure if the 497 is compatible with your controller best check with Meade before you plug it in.Tony may well be right but I have no experience with the ASII
I,m willing to take a look at your controller to see if I can fix it for you I have fixed other Autostars before you can ship it up to me if you want.

cheers

Autostar controller

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help, I actually don't want a controller, just the LCD display, as that's all that broke (see photo). I have found one in Sydney that the owner is willing to part with, it's a 497, but I think the LCD display is the same.

Cheers
Stuart
