253 from Astrofest.

Here's an NGC253 from Astrofest, captured on the 13th and 14th between power outages

FS102 @ F8, QHY9 @ -35C, 80min L and about 30min each RGB.

Here's a 2meg version.

Nice one, Robin - very well presented! It was the first galaxy I saw visually and it brings up special memories.

Thanks for sharing,
Alex

Nice one Robin.
I'm sure there's a few objects up there that are now measurably dimmer after we got through with them.

Plenty of detail, really performs well for a 4 inch scope.
I read elsewhere about the power outages, hair dryers etc the culprit ? 5 or so clear nights is really good, that's about 3 months worth in Melbourne.

Thanks Greg. I only got 2 or 3 objects nettie. I was in bed when it got real cold

There's a bit of a colour cast over the big version but I don't see it in the tiff so I won't worry about it?

The tak is having it's 10th birthday this year Clive. It just keeps on giving.

Robin, nice image, quite sharp too. Perhaps raise the curves a little to make the galaxy pop.

Awesome. How many nights were you there? How many more treats like this on the way?

Excellent effort, Robin.

Tell me, did you flat field the image? I notice some background variations.

Will be interesting to see each person's take on this gorgeous galaxy.

Really nice amount of detail coming through there Robin. Very crisp, although agree with Humayun there's a bit of noise/gradient in outer parts of pic.
(I'm just jealous )

I'll probably reprocess Paul, I need to go through all the flats manually by the looks. As H and Rob point out, something is throwing a colour cast over it and the others.

I got there Thursday Troy and it looks like 253 is the pick of the shots.

The power seemed to come good on the last night Pete, but a lot of people had packed up by then

I'm sorry I didn't drag the newt out of the car and set it up on the last night. This quick blend of 1365 looks like it really could have done with a bigger scope and more time A OSC would have been handy too.
