M16 Eagle - Narrowband - Hubble Palette

Here is my updated version of the pillars - approx 4.5 hrs of data in total with a second run of Ha data (15 x 10 mins) added as a Luminace layer to the previous Ha,Oiii, Sii data (8 x 5 mins each). Scope is the ED127, ccd - Opticstar 145m, calibration and stacking in DSS and LRGB processing in AA4.

Holy smokes, look at ALL the detail.

Fabulous work John, not too sure about the palette, looks a bit weird to me, but I am just a hick with no talent for such things. Still, reminds me of a pool of vomit.....sorry, I know that doesn't sound right and I mean no offense...just.....I dunno.....icky somehow...

Great details John.

That's the beauty of NB, you can always change the combinations to suit SHO or HOS.

NB gives you that artistic licence to have a bit of fun.

it is a mistake to use Halpha for luminance for this sort of image. don't feel bad, most that come from the world of LRGB do this without much consideration: it is a common mistake

you simply attenuate the sulfur and oxygen while strengthening the hydrogen. the hydrogen is already dominant and using it for luminance simply aggravates the problem

Thanks for all the feeback guys - guess I have overcooked the Ha and gone too green (but vomit - boy what HAVE you been eating :-)) - I was trying to emulate the colour balance from memory....and I think need more Sulphur data the blue channel is soo faint. I am pleased with the details in there and will have a read up on those links and see what I can do...

Nice detail but the green has to go. Hey we've all done it when doing narrowband. Its what happens when you do a standard LRGB style processing workflow on narrowband. It doesn't work out.

Also it would pay to find data which is posted here and there about how to take the purplish red out of the stars. There are ways - not 100% sure myself how it is done but there are some here who know.
