Moon and 4 planets, part 2 (12 August 2010)

Hi All,

I had to change my plans this evening due to (i) a bit of a gale blowing outside and (ii) the fact that I've got a horrible cold . So I just set up the tripod in my driveway and grabbed a couple of shots before Mercury disappeared behind the trees. Like yesterday I also took a 300mm telephoto shot of the Moon which I've added to the image.

Here's the result. Thanks for looking.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice one Steve, it is still clouded out and raining here so I have had no hope of any image, well done mate.

Hi Stephen

A beautiful composition – I really like the close up in the smaller panel. Excellent stuff!

Cheers

Thanks Dennis! It's not my sharpest image due to the wind, but it was certainly a great sight and it's nice to have an image of the event.

Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen,
I saw your earlier photos taken a few days ago. On my count you have photographed Venus, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, part of the Earth and the Moon. That makes 5 planets and the Moon.
Well done. You efforts have prompted me to take the odd photo off my back verandah. The skyline isn't nearly as pretty as yours but I did get 5 planets.

Thanks Peter,

I guess you're right, there are 5 planets in the shot!

Cheers,
Stephen

Nicely done, Stephen!

Thanks Humayun. Yes, having captured Part 1 and Part 2, I'll have to try for Part 3!

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice, good luck with it!

I'm trying to get away from work if I can. I had a great spot scouted but it's unfortunately over 2 hours drive away. I do have a second (not as good) backup spot here in Canberra that I'll aim for.
