There was a nice flare on the sun today.

Around 8 o'clock near the limb in the image I grabbed this morning.

Thanks guys, but I wouldn't call that a truly high-res solar image....

Acquired with a SM90/Taka FSQ and Skynx 2-2.

I really need to get my STX pumping here, at about 3x the focal length... but haven't quite resolved some mounting (dammed 3" fittings !) problems.

Speaking of pumping STXs, Im sick of waiting for the all the other pumping STX models to come out, whats up there?, are they having trouble with the fancy new guiding features?, does yours have them?.

Buggered if I know Fred... I'm still trying to get bits for the 16803 version.

In truth I suspect many niche manufacturers in the USA are still being hit hard by the GFC...what chip were you after?

Super image Peter, and I am very interested in getting into this field.

Trying to understand your setup - so instead of buying the entire scope, like the SM90 double stack for a whopping $8k (almost), you can just buy the filter and it is designed to fit on the front of the FSQ106 right?

What else would I need? Anything down at the eyepiece end?

Hello Martin. Correct, all you need is a scope specific adapter. Both Coronado and Lunt have these for most major manufacturers.

The etalon fits on the objective end, and a blocking filter goes the eyepiece end. It's then a simply matter of fitting a camera onto the blocking filter.

I have been pricing things up this afternoon.

Looks like I will go for the SM90 double stack, and probably settle on the 15mm BF rather than the 30.

Took me a while to find some info on those...with an FSQ, I see you could even go as low as the BF5, but the image size is rather small (or so one website stated).

I am guessing a nice ST8300C would be a nice camera for this, rather than shooting RGB.
