Grand Opening, our Observatory

Grand Opening on Saturday April 24- 2010.

For those of you who couldn't be there.
Here's a few piccys.

The pic with the latch also shows in the top right the thin Teflon pad on which this roof slides.

The Telescope is a Meade 80mm Apo F6 with a Canon 350 D

The shed is 4metres long and 2.4 metres wide. The roof slides off a bit more than half way giving a great sky and a covered work area.

We are delighted.

This post is also a follow up from an earlier post, Another Roll Off Roof for the Blue Mountains which I posted last year.

Thankyou.
Brett

PS We recommend Miceli wine for important occasions such as Observatory Openings.
You will know from the first sip that you bought a great wine.

Nice work there Brett.

Is that a wine cooler on the wall in the corner?

Cheers,
Jason.

Its best to phone Transac and describe what you want as their online catalog isn't up to date.
Thanks again, Brett

Well done Brett - it looks fantastic, and a very stylish opening ceremony.

I too like the hold-down latches; I've been after that style of catch for my shutter.

Hi Frances and Brett,

I'm sorry I didn't get to see the bottle of plonk across the bows at the launching ceremony, but it looks like there was some left over, for medicinal purposes I presume!

She looks a fine, well constructed craft and here's hoping you find what you are looking for...

Hi Francis and Brett, so this is what you've been up to! Looks really nice and comfy

Are you still hunting for supernovae?

Cheers

Hi Steffen, Great to see you here.
The plan is to visually SN search in the yard with the big Dob. Its almost refigured, in fact its very close to right.

The Observatory is for wide field imaging of the southern skies looking for comets. And of course if i have a SN suspect then i can go into the shed and take an image.
Thanks for the comment and be great to see you soon,
Cheers Brett

Hi Bret & Frances
I have not visited IIS much recently.
Spotted your observatory, love the opening ceremony.
Hope you bag a few comets and SN's, it would help if you acquire a cloud filter to beat the lousy weather we are experiencing..
Regards
Gerry
