Pony Club in August.

Looks like a few key players are heading up to Bretti Reserve for the 7th.

Does this leave anyone interested in the Pony Club for that day?

Weather not looking good though for both locations.

14th maybe?

Greg.

Sorry "Pony Clubbers" (no animals were injured in the writing of this email). I won't be there this weekend as it is my wife's birthday. To whoever does make it to the mountain - have a good night. Tony.

I am definitely interested in dragging the scope out on Sat.night.
Need a fix. How many takers have we at this stage?
The weather forecast doesn't seem too bad.
I know a few guys are away, but where are all those closet dwellers?

So I guess that means you didn't go to Bretti, Geoff and Rick?
Have you heard anything from the explorers?

I am at work, with my van all packed, and heading up there after work tonight.
I hope they are still there when I get there.

Why don't you and Rick come on up today too.
We can have a mini convoy.
I hope to be leaving Newcastle by (or before) 3pm. arriving 5:30.

Its just for two nights! In the darkest skies in eastern NSW!!!

Or you can even come back with Geoffro tomorrow (Sat) [as he is going to a party or something back home].
And then you will be back for Pony Club saturday night.

Hi All

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am a bit of a noob here but was wondering if pony club is availble (or suitable) for a 1st timer? Would the Katoomba meet on tonight be better for me? I would come armed with my Sky watcher 102 refractor and the 2010 astronomy guide but other than that I must confess that I am a fully certified beginner.

Hi Dodgyd.
You are certainly welcome at the Pony Club.
Should be someone there by 5 or 6 pm.

Looks like there might be some cloud around though.

Greg.

Have you ridden a pony before?

Yes, you're most welcome to attend, and you can have a peak through other scopes too.

Hi dodgyd and welcome to IIS.
You would be most welcome at the PC.
We were all first timers once so don't be put off by that.
If you decide to come we have plenty of scopes to look through and a lot of experienced observers to help if needed.
If you come, the directions are posted on the website how to get there.
It is expected to be very cold tonight (0 degrees) so bring plenty of warm gear to be comfortable such as thermals, beenies, gloves, lined boots etc..(It won't be as cold as Katoomba though I would expect)
Cheers Rick

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think Pony club is a bit closer than the blue mountains so I will try and make the trip up north. Will take some warm gear, the scope, small red torch, map of how to get there, cloud repellant... I think that is all I need? What time should I aim to get there?
