Rainbow Lorikeets Feeding

Just a quickie - took this through the glass of my back door the other day. When I opened the door to get closer, they flew away.

They were lovely, dancing around on our back lawn (which seriously needed a mow).

It's a tight crop, taken with Canon 40D and 24-105mm lens @105mm.

Gorgeous birds Mike, although they look more like the Pale Headed Rosellas that we see in Brisbane, apart from the bright red heads. The PHR’s up here have a light yellow head. I think what you have there may be Eastern Rosellas?

Lucky you!

Cheers

Dennis

Probably right Dennis - I was going to say Rosella's but went with Lorikeets instead.

I don't know my birds

Very cute. Definitely Eastern Rosellas. The Pale Headed Rosella (aka Northern Rosella) is another morph. I think there is also a Western Rosella but off the top of my head I can't remember the markings - possibly more yellow.

Don't do it! Looks like they have come in to feed on the seed you have growing there. You could have the whole family over in spring if you encourage them.

Definitely Rosella's. Check your sauce bottle.
