NGC 6334 & 6357 in Ha

Here's two pics I took last night with my 5" newt. Approx 30x5min each in Ha. Very very noisy. Still some left after processing, although some nice details. As it's my first time imaging those two I'm not sure if it's because they're faint or if because the camera didn't cool enough?

Anyway here it is: NGC6334 & NGC6357 . Will need a lot more data but that's all I could get for now. Might need the flash viewer. You can click & zoom or pan around the viewport. F for full screen. Thanks for looking.

Nice work Marc- they both look very 3D-like, quite eerie! The zoom and drag seems to work and is a nice feature allowing you to rove around the frame. Impressive stuff for 5 inches of aperture!

Very detailed and sharp. The Cats Paw looks like you didn't use flats?

Youre used to 11 inch aperture now and 5 inch only gathers a small fraction of the light your 11 inch does. Aperture rules eh?

You are totally up and coming Marc- I enjoy your stuff much more than the estabished around here as you're pushing the envelope with the gear you have. Those images are very sharp.

Nice images Marc, I do agree with you re needing more data for these two, if nothing else than to smooth out the background and add a bit more to the nebulas. Well done.

Fabulous, Marc. All that captured by a 5" Newt. Nice!

Pity about the noisy background, but, I'm viewing these on a 24" widescreen monitor. If I lean back in my chair, all I see is beautiful hydrogen alpha. The zooming feature is a nice touch, too, by the way!

Look forward to trying these ones out myself some time soon.

Nice effect with the zoom etc, I won't pick add too much on what others have said just the second image appears to have a bit more contrast than the first but well done

Thanks Dennis & Rob. This Zoomify stuff is pretty good yeah. Trying to figure out how to do it dynamically so I can make a gallery with a database then I'll upload the lot.

Thanks Greg. Yeah I did use the same set of flat on both. Will have to check again. Maybe I stacked a non calibrated series by mistake.

Sure does. I lost touch with the 5". I now remember 10-15min is the minimum workable exp time in Ha. These two are due for another round to double up the amount of data and smooth things out. Can't use my C11 yet. It's on pieces on the bench again. I'm getting the AO delivered Monday now - just cleared customs Friday so prime focus on the C11 has to be spot on before I rebuild anything.

Thanks Doug. This little 5" newt delivers a nice sharp field now it's collimated. I think it's more suited for RGB under dark skies though.
