Today, 03.07.2010 at about 3:18 GMT +1 (2:18 local summer time) in Poland / Warszawa I was imaging Jupiter. The seeing and results are as usuall... except that I've spotted a shadow on Jupiter where no moon was in the right spot to make a shadow (Io and Calisto on the back of Jupiter). Looking more I think I've spotted something bright and round-like that also moves with the shadow:
Hi riklaunim, I can only assume it is some sort of surface detail perhaps? Certainly nothing shows using Jupiter 2. There are other forum members here with more knowledge of Joop's surface features, than me, they may be able to explain further.
It may be one of small moons. The shadow part is bit to odd for a surface detail and it gets elongated when it gets to the right side of the planet - so it's probably a shadow.
