Fair price for used Naglers?

What is a fair price for used Naglers?

I am after a 7mm - new or old type is OK, there is a type 1 on Ebay for $100, damaged lower barrel so filters will not fit, no box. I reckon it is too much, I would pay the price if it were near mint and had the box. Am I being a tightwad??

Bintel sells 7mm Nagler Type 6 eyepiece for $349 but are currently on sale for $308...so $100 (I assume AUS $) is exceptional even with a damaged barrel provided the seller has been honest and there is nothing wrong with the optics.

"Small dent" says the seller! Dropped onto concrete to put that much of a flat spot on the barrel I'd guess, unless Type 1's used aluminium? TeleVues must be really well-built if an impact like that hasn't knocked the lenses inside out of alignment.

I doubt it has any collector value in its present condition, so it's worth whatever somebody is prepared to pay. I can't see you getting one for $100 in near mint condition with box though.

perhaps they are worth more than I think, or someone got carried away at auction - this eyepiece fetched $204! I would much rather pay the full $349 for a new type 6.

In general, a well looked after premium EP will sell for 70-75% of new price
