Saturn June 10th Flea3 first light

The Flea3 has landed in Miami folks. I only had to wait 2 weeks to get a clear night to use it. You can see the red movie used to make the first photo here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrPdIkBxH3Q

The second photo seems to show the storm trail but I'm going to wait for confirmation by Bird for that assertion. The frame rate for the 2nd photo is only 7.5 fps. Capture was accomplished on my MacBook (only firewire 400 though) using Astro IIDC software. This software is not capable of pushing the gain beyond 24 db. I am trying, without success, to get the developer of Astro IIDC to modify the software for more gain.

As it stands the resolution of the image is .12 sec/pixel.

Great image Dave. Such a pity Saturns rings are almost edge on at the moment.
Cheers,
Duncan

Hi Dave

beautiful clean images - looks like you have everything working right in the "sweet spot". The video is great and a really useful additional way to present planetary data.

Thanks Ray

Lovely first images Dave, Trevor might confirm as well but it sure looks like the second image captured the chain of SED storms quite well.

cheers, Bird

Well done Dave,

For sure, you have the chain of storms that are currently active. A most promising first light.

Regards
Trevor

This camera is very well. I have requested the Basler Ace, which has the same sensor ICX 618. When I receive it i can see what is capable..., even though it does not have compatible software.
