Controlling a Celestron CG5 mount using a MacBook air and Cartes du Ciel

Hi all,

I need assistance with this. I have got the usb to serial port working and all the necessary cabling ( all ok as they work 100% on an old dell laptop using the unified celestron ascom driver), Cartes du Ciel is installed on the Mac, as is the usb to serial adaptor, however what exactly do I use as a driver to send commands to the mount?

Any help, links to software, drivers, etc would be welcome.

cheers

Guy

Hey Guy,

I haven't tried to control the CG5 on OS X, but if I were to, the first place I would look is INDI. Cartes du ciel has an option to connect to an INDI server and the INDI server provided by Cloudmakers for OS X has drivers for many popular mounts. You can find it here: http://www.cloudmakers.eu/indiserver/

I've actually been trying to get this working myself, but with an EQ8. Not having much luck there, but you might have more luck with the CG5 :-)

Cheers,
Lee
