They say it was an asteroid that hit Jupiter

The coincidence is amazing, since Anthony reports seeing another fireball on Jupiter overnight, but Hubble site report that it was likely an asteroid that hit Jupiter on July 19, 2009.

This brings back memories of my observing session when fragment G of comet Shoemaker-Levy hit Jupiter in 1994. What an awesome thing to see.

That is neat information, I suppose that would explain a bright light in the image. A thousand nuclear bombs going off at once, took a long time for the light to reach the surface.
