Eyepiece suggestions

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a relatively low cost ep for dso viewing and maybe one for planetary viewing as i only have the standard gso eyepieces that came with the scope.I've been doing some research and here are some eps which come to my fancy,i don't want to spend more than $150

1. Williams optics SPL ep for $140 for planetary
2.William optics 20mm Swan ep for $120 for dso
3.meade swa 16mm ep for also $120 for dso

What do you think are they any good?
i have a 130mm reflecter which is 900mm long so its focal ratio is 6.9
how will these eps perform in this scope and in fast one as i am looking into getting a dob.

Thanks in advance
Orestis

orestis, i have had the spl series and they are good value imo..you might also want to buy one of the long perng ep's from andrews..as they are almost identical & are only $99 if i remember.

i thought the 20mm swan was a bit soft - i would avoid it,,
the 16mm swa is a very good ep for the price - though the eye relief is a bit short because of a poorly designed eyepiece twist up cup. i would recommend it for the views it gives though -

Hi Orestis...

There are numerous threads on the same topic, try searching through some of them for some suggestions...

Personally, i just upgraded my set of GSO plossls to the Baader Hyperion series (got 5, 8, 13, and 24mm's), I bought them online for $115 each and highly recommend them. For you, I would recommend the 13mm lens, it has a nice flat 68 degree AFOV, good eye relief, fits both 1.25 and 2 inch focusers, and will give you approx 70x magnification in your scope (plenty for most DSO's and planetary viewing). As an added bonus, it also has several built-in T-threads to fit various DSLR cameras. Well worth looking into......lol

Thanks Guys,

Dannat-Waht do you mean by generic. is it still the same as a hyperion and is it worth the risk.Think i might but a 16mm SWA ep.

Thanks again
