Welcome lambda20

Mark (lambda20) has just joined IIS. He made the mirror in my current 10" and is finishing off a new 13.1" mirror for me.

Make him feel welcome, it's good to see one of Australias premier opticians on the forum.

You're username wouldn't happen to mean that you figure your mirrors to 1/20 wave or better does it

right back at ya

if you were going to get a 16" mirror and mick pinner could make you the tube and i could attach the dob drivers to it, what focal ratio is best????

i understand i dont want the tube to be 2metre's but what would be compromise.

i know the andrews ones are next year and i will wait for 6 months to see how they go ie quality and ironing out problems, but i would get a lot of plesure building one!!!

asi, if you come to star camp in march , i will catch you a crayfish over xmas, freeze it and then you can eat it with the fat boy steaks i am cooking on the friday night. surf and turf baby!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys, I can see that a bit of aussie humor is order of the day, most refreshing for an astronomy forum.

I'm not here in a professional / commercial capacity so any such enquiries please make off the forum. After 30 years of amateur astronomy and making optics though I certainly have opinions and experience which I'll be glad to voice where it might be appropriate.

Thanks again.

Mark

Hi Mark!

Welcome to IIS, nice to see you here. Anthony has said nothing but good things about your mirrors and his planetary results speak for themselves. Can't wait to see the stuff he's capturing with the 13.1" when it's done.
