Occultation of the Pleiades 17 April

On day 17 April will be an occultation of The Pleiades for Fiji, Somoa, and New Zealand.

It will be in twilight for us, worth a look but it's gonna be cloudy in my area!

re M45 and moon

Yes,moon will be very close,it but it will be difficult to get a photo,as it will

be very close to horiz.Also very cloudy here(as usual).

I am hoping to go out into clear padock here,with a 70-200 on tripod,

and hopefully get some sort of image.

Yes, cloudy here too, but it may clear.
Getting darker earlier up here now, so may have been possible.

re moom M45

Yes,I do hope to snag a pic,I have just been getting my 450D ready with

70 to 200 mm L F2.8 lens,I dont use this lens often,Its rather larger and heavy,and tends to get left home sometimes.But for 'special projects'

like this,is where it really shines,I will have to travel away from Observatory,to some pics.The cloud situation does'nt look good.

Hope some get to see this wonderful event

on the morning or 11th june moon occults the pleiades!!!!!

heading to a site we have with fantastic easterly views to see this with a mate meeting there at 4.30am plenty of time to settle in with the binos and take it in.
may even have a look at m31 while there???
