He must have originally bought the scope in the northern hemisphere where everything is up-side-down.

I dunno... it has a nice sort of starship enterprise kinda feel with the low-slung finderscope...

Several times I have seen refractors scopes on Ebay fully set up for viewing. The seller has carefully arranged to have the erecting prism, diagonal, barlow and the physically largest eyepiece all daisy chained off the focuser. It makes the scope look really impressive for those keen buyers.
