EOS tethered shooting
Afternoon everyone,
I was out doing some wide field imaging last night when something terrible happened, I was using EOS utilities when all the sudden it stopped working for no apparent reason.
Its now afternoon the following day and I still cant connect up to the camera properly. the software has been un-installed, re-installed, updated, drivers deleted etc etc and I have hunted down as many registry entries as possible relating to the camera. I'm starting to think I may have to do a reformat of the laptop.
Previous to this problem the setup has worked faultlessly for nearly a year
The symptoms are as follows;
1. The EOS 1000d is detected on usb by the HP Mini
2. Images can be downloaded from the camera via usb
3. Remote Capture is not possible. The menu does not change from grey to white.
4. The camera and cable have been tested correct by hooking it into another computer and successfully taken shots.
Any technical advice would be greatly appreciated. I am at wits end and I really have no desire to reformat a mini-pc without a cd/dvd drive.
Cheers,
Trent

I had the same issue over xmas. The only thing that solved it was a reformat of the pc.

Thanks for that Sandy,
I guess I will have to go with the reformat then, and attempt my next magic trick...........finding the original cd's
Thanks again,
Trent.

Try Canon service dept 1st. They may have a solution in cleaning out all driver & entries without doing a full wipe.

This might sound silly, but have you tried a different USB port?
I've found on several machines in the past that some devices magically stop working on some USB ports. Sometimes it's due to the OS or specific software locking resources on a particular port (usually cleared after a reboot), other times the port itself has physical problems that only fail for particular tasks or devices. One of my USB ports on my PC works with every device except a specific memory stick I have, requiring me to use a different port every time.
(Just something to try)

Hey all,
Thanks for the responses, after much mucking around I now have a reformatted system. Unfortunately I did not find much information on the net to point me in the right direction.
Thanks again to everyone who offered a hand
Cheers,
Trent

Hey Trent.
Sucks when you have to reformat for something like that. Mine was due anyway so I didnt really mind it.
Did you find your disks, If now let me know as I have them on the pc.
