tested the hotech field flattener on NGC5139

i fired up the 127ED tonight wit hthe cooled canon 350D - iso 400 and the new hotech field flattener - well i am so glad i bought this. its only an hours worth but there was the full moon. the dog track lights and my own backyard lights on couldnt have been darker if i tried

So do you think i now have the field flattened to the corners now!!!???

two sizes to try

Looks like well corrected APO quality to me

You should install flood lights on the dome mate just to annoy the guys at the dog track

Hi David,
do you have any before-after shots? I have an ED127 also and am unsure whether to go down the same path. I've heard others use an MPCC as a de-facto flattener. ANy thoughts on that vs the Hotech?

here is a shot taken without anything http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...se.php?a=74439

with a wo 0.8 reducer and this was cropped because of the terrible field curvature http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...se.php?a=74844

Looks like it works well David. Can you put up a 100% crop just outside the main part of the glob to show the dim blue stars. Flattening an APO triplet is 'different' to flattening an APO doublet.

Are these scopes still available direct?

Sorry Bert for got to answer this question. I believe they are, though I have not emailed them to find out. One thing though is that whatever focuser they have you need to ditch it and get a moonlight one (or similar). with the dollar the way it is you could have this landed for around 1200 dollars

I'm curious as to how well the hotech item will work on an ED80 (F7), the sales info says suitable for refractors from f5 to F8
