Here is my first Jupiter observation and image for 2010, Jupiter was only just high enough to clear the lower wall of my windbreak and only a low resolution image was possible.
The south equatorial belt is very faint, pretty much nonexistant. I think Oval BA can be seen at lower right as a distinct orange spot, but I may be wrong as I haven't checked the longitudes.
As you say, the SEB is pretty well gone, it will be most interesting to see how long it takes to start to regenerate. I know it has been a while since we have seen Jup but the NEB sure looks darker, might just be the faded SEB making it look so dark.
