Morning at Boyd Creek

All,

This is a reprocess of an image I've posted before.

I was never really happy with the colours as it was a very rough job -- I just wanted to post something (a bit unlike me!).

I'm much happier with it now.

Slightly larger resolution available here.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
20s f/16.0 at 55.0mm iso100

Comments, critique, etc., most welcome.

I like the swirling pattern in the water, Humayun. Nice one.

Cheers,

Unreal! The whirlpool really sets it up. Amazing colors and light in the picture. Top work.

Awesome shot! Everything in the frame just works together - vantage point, light, colour, tonal balance and the whirlpool in the right spot balances it very nicely.

Well done!

David,

Thank you. It was the most amazing morning. Surreal, almost. The image also shows the versatility of the brilliant Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. It can be a useful landscape lens on the wide end. There is some barrel distortion, but, nothing the native software can't resolve. Having said that, I wouldn't use it for wide open spaces as the distortion does become noticeable.

Kev,

Cheers! I'm a fan of the colours in this, no doubt.

Alex,

Thanks, mate. The only thing that bothers me is the sloping rock in the bottom left. Not much to do about that one apart from add some slight vignetting to draw the eye back towards the middle.

David,

Thanks, mate. Yep, it's a fairly vibrant green, but, looks about right on my calibrated screen.

A beautiful scene. The stream leads the eye to the whirlpool. Perhaps the 1/5 forground under the whirlpool could be replaced by more greenery at the top of the slide? A bit picky perhaps? I like the colour.

Ian,

Thanks, mate. Yeah, bit disappointing about there not being greenery down the bottom, but, I can't really control that, unfortunately!

I look forward to printing this one. Might work quite well on canvas, actually.

Cheers!

This one is right up there in some of my favorites of your work H.

You certainly have a very developed photographers eye.
