Some of my favourite Lunar scapes.

Hello,

After cleaning the cob webs off the telescope, I managed to get out and grab a few AVI’s of some of my favourite regions of our Moon. The seeing was variable, maybe 5 to 6/10, which limited how far I could push the image scale.

It was good to be out again and everything fell into place quite nicely. Thanks for looking!

Cheers

Dennis

Nice moonage there Dennis

I wonder when is the best time to look for craterlets in Plato?

Thanks for all your comments, they are much appreciated.

Geoff: As you probably know, generally, small features on the lunar surface are better seen with a low sun angle as the low, slanting light from the sun tends to improve the contrast. However, I recall seeing the 4 small craterlets on Plato’s floor at higher sun angles, where they stand out as being brighter than the darker floor of the main crater.

Cheers

Dennis

Thank you again for your nice words of appreciation, it felt really good and exciting to be out under the night skies after a few months abstinence.

The ingredients of clear skies, opportunity, working equipment, free time and motivation finally collided again after what has been quite a cloudy season in SE Qld.

The Moon is an old friend and it’s always a pleasure to reacquaint myself with her ever changing face.

Cheers

Dennis
