NEW MOON NIGHT 15th MAY

HI ALL

Planning on having a astronomy shin-dig here on the Blackbutt Range

On the weekend of the 15th/16th MAY,I have already had two people from Brissy put their name down.

Only planning for 10 to 15 people.

Whats the plan?

Camp oven cooked roast meal, also will do vegietrian menu along with roast meats.cost $12 per head,

Lots of observing,astro photography.

casual friendly atmosphere, relax with wine/port,listen to the wild red deer roar and dingos howl!

Many day time subjects to photograph.

I will post some pic of our gardens etc soon

Bring Camp gear/swag,wine port, scope and camera

I ran one of these astronomy nights last april went very well

regards Chris

Your place looks amazing.

Put me down for that weekend. How would it go bringing a couple of kids? (4 and 7 years old.)

re new moon night

RE-Children,generally prefer NOT to have children,Had some attend one star night here, and well-was just not enjoyable for anyone.

Unless totally supervised by an adult at all times, such young children-are a little too young,I hope this does'nt sound harsh, some children ajust wonderfull, and you don't know their there.Just had a bad experience,so
might try and avoid it if possible.

On another note, had a fair amount of interest on this night, even may have a chap from Sydney come up to this event.

I am hoping he comes as he has a televue 102 refractor,I would like to see if we can get a few refractor owners to this event for some comparative testing.

also got some super keen imagers, heres hoping the rain is gone by May!

cheers Chris

No worries chris - I understand completely about the kids. They are pretty good in general - but it can go either way at a moments notice

In that case it will just be me. Are you doing Friday night as well? I will try to finish work early and get up there in time to set up before dark.

There is a gas BBQ,if those on friday want to cook on it,a gold coin donation for gas, would be cool=it chews the gas!

Wow, you're a lucky man Chris.
I'd love to come along, but planning to head south for the South Pacific SP that weekend. Maybe some future time!

Well - I have ruled off my appointment book for the Friday, have obtained clearance from the social coordinator - so weather permitting, I will be there sometime Friday arvo for the two nights.

RE 15th May NEW MOON NIGHT

Thanks everyone who has responded,we have 4 enthusiastic people booked so far,and another astronomer friend of mine will be keen to visit.

There is plenty of space for camping, and a large area outside gate, for camper vans/caravans etc, lets hope all the cyclones are gone by MAY!,(if there still around-will have to cancel, and build an ARK!)

cheers Chris
