Saturn March 3rd

This is my first ever Saturn pic. Nothing compared to the big boys but I think I have picked up some detail.

Comments and advice greatfully received.

All the best

Paul

Not bad at all for a first try. Focus is probably the hardest thing to get right and this looks pretty good.

cheers, Bird

Thanks Anthony, I really appreciate that comming from you. I finished processing my Pic and I spent a lot of time looking at it side by side with your last awsome Saturn pic. I was pleased that they had simularities (like a monkey and a human both have two legs). I am trying to get the best out of the equipment that I have so far and I am learning so much about the post processing. Your right that the focus is the key and I use a bahtinov mask to get the focus as close as i can at the start of the imaging. I feel that i need to refocus as i change the filters (RGB etc.) but I don't have the hang of that yet. This means that i generally have a sharp red, a reasonable green but a soft blue focus. Any tricks that anyone has for this would be a godsend?

Thanks also to Matt and Clayton for the nice comments.

all the best

A good start Paul,

I have seen many excellent images on various astronomy forums around the world taken with a C 9.25 so you definitely have a scope capable of producing top quality planetary images.

As for the colour, I would suggest that you be guided by the histogram.

Also, record all of your capture settings so that you have a record of what works and what doesn't. Take extreme care with the collimation of your scope and the focus and learn by experience.

Regards
Trevor
