Well, it's not flash but at Mag11 what do you expect!
Hi guys,
Weather has been very un-co-operative lately, but last night it came right for a few hours!.. Been doing some testing for Wildcard, but once that was done I went back to a Galaxy I had viewed earlier, and had made a mental note to image it. I didn't know what to expect from the image and made a point of not looking at pictures of the galaxy before I'd finished processing it...
Anywat it's not flash, & had I known it was Mag11 I probably wouldn't have bothered, but here it is anyway.....
NGC1672 in Dorado. 45 MLY distant.
C9.25 @ f/10. Canon 300D, ISO800, 18x4min exposures.
Guided with ST80, ToUCam, K3CCDTools, and Star-Mate.
Located with ease using ArgoNavis. No visual EP check required!
Cheers
But this could change quickly if you beat us in the 3 one day international's coming up in NZ.
Did you decide to image at F10 due to the image scale, I would be curious to see how it would look at F6.3..obviously smaller...but would their be even more detail.

it would probably be brighter for the same exposure setting i'd assume, and yes smaller.
at least thats what i guess
45 million light years...and (paraphrasing Douglas Adams)...and you thought it was a long way to the post office..nice capture, and its great to push the envelope
is your Toucam unmodified and is it good enough to auto guide most of the time.I mean, do you have trouble finding guide stars? My Atik has conked it and I need a replacement and I am tossing up either buying a modded toucam or a regular toucam

Hi Seeker,
No my ToUCam is not modified. I have never not been able to find a guidstar with it. Mostly use it in the ST80. I have thought of LX modifying it but really there is no need. Sometimes I need to hunt around for the star, and with decent rings (Losmandy DR108) this isn't a problem.
Cheers
