xpt holiday

heading to sydney for 4 nights with the family in early april and travelling down on the xpt train.my boys are into thomas the tank engine and cant wait to go on train,staying near the central station and the holiday includes the easter showwe are also looking to see other stuff while there (only using public transport) has anybody have any ideas!!!!!

is the power house museum near central station?
and the sydney observatory?

we did the trip to blue mountains and ride the bus up there and return trip - big day but worth it. then you have the ferry to parramatta and the manly ferry

I'm sure it will be busy during the holidays, but Taronga Zoo is a ferry ride across the harbour - what a spectacular location!

Second for Taronga Zoo, but I'd suggest the Roar 'n' Snore - you stay in a tent (with a timber floor & power) overlooking the Harbour Bridge and do a night & morning safari. We did it at Christmas (my surprise gift to the family) and the kids loved it. The giraffes were my personal favorite.

Looks a bit pricey at first, but when you take into account the fact that it includes accommodation for 4 and 2 meals, it is actually quite reasonable.

Yes, both Powerhouse & Syd Observatory are not too far from Central. Walking distance or a quick public transport journey.

thanks for the replies yes there certainly is heaps to see and do.we were going to go to the zoo but we are going to do it next time were down there,the ferries sounds great take them to manly for the day
