Is Mars to be the next Pandora?

Unfortunately I don't have the reference, as it was on ABC radio. The editor of a well known science mag produced a theory:

Jupitor or the other gas giants may have a carbon rich core. Under all that gravitational pressure its very likely to contain huge diamonds.

The host commented, "The aliens must have huge engagement rings".

What the future holds is interesting. Are Earthlings to oneday mine the planets? Is a Neptune diamond bigger and brighter?
