Atik to release its new range...

having a look at atiks new range coming early '10 looks like they are putting up a good range prices are to be seen as soon as possible.

Atik 383L+ utilizing the kodak 8300 series sensor at 500 grams weighs no more than my 40d

although most of au and usa know very little about these camera's i think they arnt too bad at all. and priced to compleat should put up some good competition.

also in they have just released a OAG and slim line filter wheel.

also from the astrophotgraphy comp that they run there are some brilliant pictures being taken.

is just some of them.

Just thought ide post some of these as i have seen alot of people canning these cameras. to my knowledge i don't know of anybody who has one over here yet so that makes 99% of us arm chair experts including myself but hey im open to new things

I've got a 16ic I use for a guide camera and was tossing up getting a 314L+ when a QHY8 showed up at a good price. One of the locals has a 314E.

I'm considering the new filter wheel with the 9x1.25" mounts. Wonder what the $AU price will be?

Jan Timmermans uses a 16ic to produce the images on http://www.thefirmament.nl

I think the only thing people were canning were the local prices not the quality of the camera. They simply were not competative when placed side by side with other brands.

Well considering that the new company that im forming with a few others is the new atik dealership for AU i can garentee that the prices you see will flog the pants off any pricing i have seen so far. As far as i know atik are trying to get into australia but havn't had the support from retailers.

Ill let you know what the prices for the new equipment is over this week.

That could be changing though Mark.. With CCD Price wars as they have been for a few months now I wouldnt be surprised to see the Atik cameras come down in price to a point where they are competitive..

Nor would I Alex and that can only be a good thing . I have had a few bits and pieces from them over the years and they are well made.

Go Brenden ............ lets see, a 16 MP camera for lets say $1600.00, that way it's an easy $100 per MP, now that would knock my socks off .

A competitive ATIK dealer and after-sales service: now that that would be a nice change.

FYI Kodak KAF16803 Engineering grade CCD's (sensor cost alone) start at $US 4100.00 each.

Class 2 and Class 1 sensors are decidely more expensive.

I'd take an engineering grade CCD.. Darks and bias should essentially fix any flaws...

Not to be a downer... But I think you'll have to watch what gets said in the forums about this... I'm pretty sure this will fall under "dealers advertising" which is not allowed... Just a thought...

Yes he has been dealing ATIK for well over 12 months now if I recall. Very earliest models. Before the RC-GSO came out.

Atik Dealers in Australia

Hello I am the sales and marketing manager for Atik Cameras. I also manage all our dealer accounts in Europe and Australia.
I can tell you that there are only two Authorised Dealers is Australia and they are Andrew's Communications, www.andrewscom.com.au/ and The Astro Guy, http://www.theastroguy.com.au/

This is not an advertisement for Atik or either of these dealers - just a clarification that we have ONLY these 2 dealers and not anyone else who is claiming to be a new dealer of Atik in the AU. I think there is some confusion as to who sells our cameras in Australia.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Thanks!
