Celestron Nexstar 4GT #11041

Celestron Nexstar 4GT
Celestron Model Number 11041
Includes:

Tripod (not the one with the biult in wedge)

Mount
Single Arm Alt/Az (computerised GoTo with 40,000 object data base)
with removable hand controller.

Optical Tube Assembly (Maksutov Cassagrain Catadioptic with the following features:
4 inch (102mm) diameter aperture
grey tube
1325mm foccal length
F ratio 13
Fully Multi Coatings
Built in Flip mirror system
Separate (straight through) for camera or other eyepiece, whatever
FOV 1* (with 25mm plossl)
Red dot finder
OTA physical length 34cm
Weight 5 kilos
end caps

Powered by 8 AA battery compartment on board,
(optional 12vDC [750mA] via 2.1mm socket tip positive)

This is the last update to the 4GT before the 4SE was released (4SE is still a current model). But this one has some of the SE's "special" features like automatic SkyAlign and the 40,000 object database on board, and more.

The only things it doesn't have that the SE has is:
An Orange OTA
A wedge built into tripod, and
A removable OTA

I am selling this because I upgraded to the SE4 (I wanted built in wedge and removable OTA)

It is a basic light little computerised grab and go (with goto).
Not nearly as compact as the earlier Mak I sold, because the OTA is fixed to the mount arm.

It is in pretty good nick. More details upon PM enquiry welcomed.
I bought it second hand 12 months ago and previous owner hardly used it.
It has the original packaging for the OTA/mount. no packaging for tripod.
I had to download the manual, and the upgrade addendums. These are available in PDF.

Inspection welcome from potential buyers.

OK Here are the figures.
I paid $450 (a bargain IMHO)
But Andrews have a new 4SE for $899.
So how much is mine worth?

How about $195 Pick Up Central Coast / Newcastle
I don't want to post it, but if you can organise someone to pick it up from me, I guess thats your decision.

I didn't mention, but it can be used without the tripod, as a Table Top telescope. Thereare rubber feet built into the bottom of the mount.

If that is of interest to anybody .

welcome

Welcome Richard,
Nice to meet you.
Hope to see more of you around the forums and perhaps up at the Pony Club next time.

I recommend you put a post in the beginners start here thread to introduce yourself and let us know where you are up to or where you want to go in this hobby.

A lot of friendly helpful people frequent this web site and from experience, it is better to throw around a few options then go straight out and buy a scope that maynot be suited to your requirements.

This little GoTo Mak is a good beginners scope, but there are others who will recommend another type. Dobs are popular, cheap, and great value for money. And also about the only type of scope I have not owned. Yet!

As far as this little Nexstar is concernd, I will let you know if it becomes available.
