I can't get it right...

This weekend is forecast to be fine...

...and I have all sorts of astro toys that I've been collecting for some time to use...

...and what am I doing?

I'm driving up to see my mum in Grafton, which is good, but it's forecast to be overcast when I get back...

Sometimes it just doesn't come together. Astronomy can be a cruel hobby at times...

Al.

Next weekend will be a corker. If not the weekend after will be.

Yeah, it'll be clear for full moon, naturally.

Commiserations.
I spent about two hours doing scut-work last night. When I came out - the sky was absolutely black and every object visible in the southern hemisphere was shining bright-as. In fact I don't think I've seen a better sky.
By the time I'd dragged the scope out - cloud!
I try to console myself by thinking it was only that way for the ten minutes I looked........but I know!
"Astronomy before accounting" is my latest motto.

I find it amusing how you can go out in the evening and it's cloudy then as you are going to bed it's clear.

I think the astronomy gods like messing with our heads.

Cut a hole in the roof of your car put a dome on top, weld a pop up pier to the chassis and you've got a mobile observatory, take it with you

Oh forget the wife and kids unless they can fit in the boot

Last nite was clear here , but on top of a 3 hour sleep the night before and a hangover, I couldn't manage I was in bed by 11:30pm.

Looks like cloud again tonight and tomorrow night. I really need to set my system up and learn how to use it. The G11 is making a great door stop at the moment.

In the past four months there's only been one night with half decent transparency...it was full moon and I was sick as a dog.
Only consolation is that the monsoon will soon be over and months of lovely clear skies await.

Do you think the Chilean government would mind if we mass-migrated up one of thier mountains?

Yep - it pays to have patience - mine ran out just before xmas. If its not the weather, its other commitments, equipment troubles, wrong time of the month (lunar, that is)......seems like there are too many things that need to come together all at once
