A few insect macros

Hi all,

I spent an hour or so out in the garden with my macro lens this afternoon, and thought I'd post a few of the better shots. All taken using the 50mm Pentax macro and natural lighting. Not up to the same standard as the ones Andrew has just posted, but here they are anyway.

(Incidentally, the flowers in the first 3 are Cosmos, which I guess is appropriate for this site...!)

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Great shots Stephen, especially in natural light.

My guess is your bee in the first two is a leafcutter bee, while the third is an African Carder Bee.

Thanks for the comments Leon and Andrew!

And thanks for the identifications, Andrew. I saw you captured the same bees in your recent post. I figured it was probably a leaf-cutter bee in the first 2, because we have lots of circular cuts in our rose leaves.

Cheers,
Stephen

Its important with insect shots that the eye is in sharp focus - it pulls the viewer in. Not always easy though I admit. The 5th shot was my favourite.
