Meade 14inch ACF Screws

I have justed installed a Losmandy Dovetail mounting bracket to the underside of my 14inch Meade ACF scope. However the scope doesnt fit flush against the brackets. There are two small screws, one at the front, another at the back in the center of the scope that stop the brackets from fitting flush against the tube.

Can these screws be removed safetly?
Are the screws needed for holding the current plate in place?
Should the brackets have a counter sunk hole where the screws would go.

Will post a picture tommorrow.

Thanks

i'd go for a hole to fit them over, not knowing what they hold in place?

If they're screws you're good to go but if they're bolts and there's a nut on the other side you'll have to get inside the scope. On the C11, mirror and corrector cells are bolted.

I would not remove the screws in the scope. I would just mark the position on the dovetail and drill out a small recess in it to accomodate them. My G11 dovetail has got all sorts of mods like that to fit a variety of telescopes, cameras and lenses.
