Widefield christmas tree/hubbles variable

On the weekend headed out to tammin, with average wind on the first night of 48km/h with gusts into the 60's and the second night it calmed down to mid 20's my wind beast proformed sweetly. Heat played a big part of the 40d's ability to capture the faint whispy stuff or the lack there of.

15 x 10min ISO 800 Canon 40d
finder guider and dsi for the guiding
ED 80 Progold for the tunes so to speak
EQ6 holding the lot

Processed in PS CS3, stacked in DSS

second shot is the Flaming star to which i think i have hit the 40d's limit as it is just too faint. i needed a 3 min ISO 1600 shot just to make out a tiny bit of nebulosity, so mainly i was going on the fact that my pointing accuracy was good and it was.

14 x 10min ISO 800 canon 40d and the rest of the setup was exactly the same as previous

the images are interlaced so they will be a tad blurry untill finished downloading

christmas tree and presents

Very nice images well captured and processed.

Well done. I rather like the overall field of view.

thanks all for your comments.

yes gary, it wasn't a easy target to capture good detail though i was a little worried when there where spots of no stars i thought DSS had stuffed up or something and hubbles variable, i thought something else had gone wrong before i had identified it in starry nights.

Thankyou doug I must say that the ed 80 provides a pleasing wide field vista. im looking forward to tackling the rho opphicuni nebula in scorpio this year with it. might have to mosaic but all good

Wow, a tone of nebulosity there. Done well to get all that in the 40D.
