Yet another try with this great target, this time 8x 10min shots through an FLT-132 with a canon 50D, guided with an ED80 and lodestar guide camera.

stacked in nebulosity and tweaked in photoshop CS4.


Think this turned out ok except for the reflection of star in image which i have seen a few times from this imaging scope.

Everything turned out well, nice and sharp etc but its quite dim.

It either needs more curves and levels in Photoshop to bring it up or more exposure time so it can be.

It may already be there its a matter of bringing it up and keeping the noise down in the process (curves and levels).

Top shot! Good guiding and a great amount of detail in the flame and dust. As Greg says boosting the light would help bring out a lot of this detail. I also see it brings out the halo reflection around the horse, sometimes this can be cured with reframing the shot.

Thanks guys, I now know where my brightness levels are on this laptop LCD compared to everyone else

here is take two, curves upped a bit more - I could prob go evan higher but want to get a good base line to work with here.

take three has a 25% shadows increase... what do you think?

Yes the FLT132 is a great scope, but im just biding my time with it until counterweights arrive for my 10" GSO RC

Even though dim (although thats the region anyway..lots of dark dust etc.), the detail is very good, the colours are sharp and well balanced, and Alinta is under control! Very nice. Possibly try using colour saturation via PS. (See attached)

Thanks Trevor, im using Photoshop CS4 as it has some great new shortcuts in it for levels and curves

I have reviewed the V3 on another LCD and CRT and it does look much better compared to the other ones.

Grahame just try all the options until you find one pleasing to your eye that's half the fun, everyone will have their own idea what looks right

Great images, Grahame. They're really sharp with tiny stars and fine texture details in the flame that you rarely see. I kind of like the 2nd one best. It's probably a bit too dark but has a nice moody quality.
