No sleep for the deprived

I dont have air-con, it is currently 26°C in Sydney outside... but my bedroom thermostat is reading 33°C

I requested we get air conditioning in this old shack but was denied by the landlord.. can only get those portable air conditioners.
Do they work as well as a normal wall mounted or split system air con?

Anyway when I tell people at work I couldnt sleep due to it being to hot and not having air-con, I usually give the excuse of 'Im doing my bit for the enviroment'

Anyway i shall turn my computer off as it generates more heat in my room.

gnight all!

The split systems are generally more powerful that the window mounted ones as well as being quieter.
That said, I'm in a rented house and have installed window mounted air conditioning units in the bedroom and office (I used to work from home).
As long as the unit is sized correctly for the room, they work very well.

My weatherstation shows it's 30.3 degrees here right now, 60% humidity

Jabba,

I see you're a finance consultant. Could you investigate finding yourself a loan and get into the housing market proper. Renting is dead money as I'm sure you know, - and if you're still young, sooner is better than later.

Then you can have whatever you want without having to 'ask' some tight-arsed landlord.

Just a thought

Yeah Paul this is actually a goal I have for the year whilst I still live at home. I plan to purchase a house by the end of the year, so for now I am just saving up as much of a deposit as possible

Hi Keenan,

When I was a teenager in Adelaide, my Dad had returned from Darwin. He said to keep cool at night the best thing was a fan blowing directly on you.

My thoughts were that he was just too cheap to get air con.

Yeras later I find myself living in Townsville. In the Army. No air con. Fans were great.

If you need a quick fix go for the old fashioned solution.

Get a fan.

We have air con. most of the time we just have the fan on. Its 30C most days here, 40 klms N of Brisbane

Cheers Marty

That's what we did last night. We don't have an aircon outlet in the bedroom, so we just blew cooled air in from another room.

I have aircon, but I use a fan.

Just point it straight at my body.

Works very well.
