Wedding Day!

Half an hour and it will be my son's wedding day I can hardly sleep

My eldest child. I can still remember the wintry December morning in Swansea, South Wales, when he was born - such magic. My little boy whom I've tried to protect, educate and support all these years, all grown up and embarking on a new stage in life. OK, I admit he is now 27 and 6'4" tall!

He and his bride went to primary school together - how cute several say! But they had forgotten each other until they met again at a mutual friend's birthday party. We think she is great and we get on very well with her family - the whole families have a great time together.

Their children will have grandparents who are Aussie, Iranian, Malaysian Chinese, Hainanese Chinese! What a fascinating world we live in today!

Oh no - Grandad Eric

It's going to be a hot one in Melbourne - thank goodness we are indoors in air conditioned comfort - but with a beautiful view across Port Philip Bay.

One down - two to go! I'm giving them stick since I was married shortly after I turned 20.

Have a happy day Eric. Don't embarrass the happy couple too much with childhood stories.

I have one (son) down and one (daughter) to go.

My daughter and daughter-in-law have the same name - which is rather confusing. At least they have different second names and you can tell them apart by initials.

Many thanks everyone!

All done - it was a great day - everyone seemed very happy. Bride and Groom especially so. Chinese tea ceremony followed by simple elegant ceremony.

Lovely spot - http://pelicanslanding.com.au/index.htm Hot day, but nice cool breeze off the bay made it very comfortable. I loved the "openness" of the place. Windows, breeze, views, locals and tourists milling around the streets and pier below, seaplane and water traffic coming and going. I've been at too many weddings locked away inside a big venue with no windows - yuck!

And we made use of the internet - video skyping the ceremony and cutting cake and speeches to their mutual friend who re-introduced them to each other - She is currently in Switzerland.

I had to admit to all - 'twas the second-best wedding I have attended!

My wife and I took cameras, but we never touched them! I'll see if I can get a photo or two from someone else to post.

Congratulations to your son and daughter in law!
Everyone looks so happy, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. It brings back the memory of my own daughters wedding and the fantastic time we had.
The glow will stay with you all for a long time to come.
Here's to their health and happiness.
