Remove corrector plate from LX50 10'' SCT

Hi, I am trying to remove the corrector plate from my LX50 10'' SCT but it's too hard. It looks like if there was some glue between the corrector plate and the Tube
Of course I already removed the screws and plastic disk
I have cleanned a few SCT in the past.
Any idea on how to do this? Some solvent I can apply to it to remove the corrector??

Maurice,

Just a stab in the dark..but I wonder if it is air pressure holding it. Have you remove any eyepieces or cameras from the focuser?

I cant offer any sollution to the stuck correcter plate.
However I wouldnt use anything like solvents anywhere near the scopes optics.

Sorry I cant help, my correcter plate came out really easy when the ring was unscrewed.
Orientation I think is important so make sure you mark the correcter plate when removing it ( if it does come out ) so it goes back in with the same rotation position.
Good luck.

Hi Maurice, I suppose you have got it done by now, but just in case. My 14" LX200 corrector was slightly stuck in place and I gentley prized it out with 2 clothes pegs, the plastic aligator type, pulled apart. The end was too blunt to fit, so I sharpened it slightly with a grinder. Then place them inbetween the tube and corrector, about 45 degrees apart. You cannot apply too much pressure because the plastic clothes peg will bend. So IMO it is a safe way to remove a slightly stuck corrector.

All the best.

I'll assume it's the same system as any Celestron SCT? Get a syringe with a bent needle and a bit of acetone. Squirt some in between the glass and the corrector cell. Wait 5min. Get a flat screw driver, wedge it in the gap between the glass and the corrector cell and twist it. The corrector plate will pop.
