Whales Beached in NZ

http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/6...in-strandings/
It's my pet theory that seismic disturbances can cause whales to go off course.
So, will there be an earth quake soon in the region?? A volcano about to become active??

Another theory is all that noise generated by warships, (Sonar) and particularly, submarines, upsets and disorientates the whales

Oh, thats so sad .
It would be great to establish a reason for it though, as, unfortunately, its not an uncommon occurance.

And let me say it isn't a pretty sight at all, I flew over the Colville area yesterday, the channel cut to help float those was still visible, as was the grave. Very saddening. But these ones were the lucky ones, as another group totalling about 100 were stranded at the top of the south island on Farewell Spit, all perished. Now that is sad.
