what was YOUR best Christmas memory and present!?!

Hey guys, now that we are getting more into the Christmas spirit, I was wondering what your best memories of Christmas were and your best Christmas

I'll start off. Ummm..... Since i am fairly young (13yrs) I am not quite sure... But I know for sure that THIS Christmas will be the best of all, i have been staying up late looking into the sky with my father, learning stars, constellations and looking things through my 10x42 binocs. This Christmas I will get my first scope (6" Dob, 153mm, f/ratio 7.8, sky-watcher) and I just cannot wait!!! Other from the future, my best Memories were when I was a small child possibly around 4-5yrs old, going to bed, seeing no Presents under the tree, then next Morning I woke up, and I saw Heaps, and was happy that Santa came (wink-wink, nudge-nudge...santa.......). My best present so far was last year, when I FINALLY got a microscope

I remember one Christmas I was sneaking out to look for Santa and in the lounge room there was this huge silhouette in the lounge with 2 big eyes and a big mouth after waking everyone up with my screams I was only about 5 my mum turned on the lights and I saw it was a tent

Another XMAS I woke up in the morning and was told that my present was in my parents bedroom and when I went in behind the bed was what I at first thought was a Motorbike and I leapt over the bed straight onto the seat and my feet hit pedals it was probably the first of what we call BMX now but it had the Fuel tank and mudgaurds and motor all in plastic it looked so cool and was probably the best present I ever got after I got over the slight disappointment of finding pedals.

My best memory was Christmas 96, it was the last Christmas with both of my parents and the power went off just as lunch was to be cooked.

As the power didn't come back on until late in the afternoon we had a Christmas lunch consisting of salami sandwiches washed down with a rather nice Chianti.

We had a nice seafood lunch on Boxing day instead.

It started a standing joke to this day where we always put out a salami sandwich on the lunch table just in case of emergencies.

That is just fantastic news Sebastien!

I know that feeling. My best moment was when I was 8 -- 1970; the Christmas day my Tasco 9TE-5 60mm refractor arrived.

I hope this Christmas fulfills all your hopes and expectations mate -- and I also hope that 39 years later, you're still hooked.

plus on Christmas 96(the year that I was born

) Very nice story, great memory!!! I know that I will remember that story, even though it didn't happen to me

Really enjoyed reading it

2-Les, Thanks a lot, It is funny as a younger person to read these stories and see how long ago some people have started with astronomy and stayed with it

I certainly do know that this Christmas will just be AWESOME

and that it will fill my expectations! I can see it everyday, sitting right next to my desk, outlooking a window

And I do know for sure that 39yrs and well beyond that I will still be hooked on to Astronomy, I just absolutely love it!

But it was the beginning of a long love affair with computers

I think it snowed that Xmas in London, too.

Such great memories. I also have a memory of a Tasco telescope Xmas.That was a wonderful year too.

Xmas 1982, in Glasgow. i got a bike that year, but the UK was gripped in quite a cold Winter, moreso in Scotland where its at least 10 degrees colder all round, all year

Anway, i got my first BMX when i was 12, a Diamond Back Silver Streak, and i couldnt go out and play, as there was 1.5 metres of snow outside

When I was 11 I got a Hornby Shunter electric train set. Used to make the track up then build a lego town around it.

I remember those good times, haha,

. I remember when I was about 5-6 yrs old, I got a wooden train set, used to play with it ALL the time

Same. A Hornby/Triang train set for a XMas around mid-late 70's. Battery operated but with only one set of batteries, when they went flat, we put them in the oven of the IXL wood stove for 15 minutes to heat them up and they were charged again for another hour!

Hi Sebastian,

Im also a younger person on the forum although I was born in 1995. My best Christmas present I have ever got was a Razor electric scooter which I got last year. This year Im looking forward to an Ipod Touch which I will buy for myself and a suprise gift from Santa (My Mum

). I also need a collimator for my 12" Dob

That's an easy one. Kindergarten. Must have been 4 or 5 at the time. The firies organised a red helicopter to land in the school yard and santa came out. He got mobbed by 100s of kids like a rock star. Everybody wanted to touch him. It was great! Still remember it to this day.

Yeah I remember when one of my school mates dressed up as santa 2 years ago and he got mobbed and physically attacked by what seemed like several hundred kids
