My first crack at the Sombrero

I have croped this about 50% to up the image scale. It isn't even a pale imitation of Peter Ward's but his was on a 14.5 RCOS while this was my new ED127 and QHY8. It's a mix of 10mins and 5 min subs totalling about 60mins. For a 5" scope I'm not too upset by the result but looking forward to having another go with the RC.

Slick neato! You've got to be chuffed with that. Look forward to your RC attempt, the increase in image scale should make that an impressive image. Well done.

Regards

If you took the time to crop it, why didnt you rotate it?

Trevor is right there Peter... Blending 10min and 5min subs is no good for a target like this... shoot 10~15min subs all night.. Out at your place, 20min subs are unaffected by light pollution, I'd get your guiding sorted so its all super tight then shoot the longest subs possible on a target like this...

Its a good effort, and the increased resolution of the 8" should really give you a pleasing result...

Alex.

Nice shot Peter. I can see detail in the dust lane and all that with a 127mm objective.
