Refractor focusers

Recently I bought a second hand 120mm refractor F900mm (black diamond.) When using the diag + eye piece with scope in/near the verticle position the weight of these moves everything out of focus with the assistance of gravity. Additionally the focuser lacks the strength to go against gravity when in this position. Is it faulty or is there something I don't know about?
Great scope apart from this.

Is there a thubmscrew or something you can tighten to hold it in position? Then release when you need to refocus.
