Macro fun this weekend in Canberra.

I think I am officially obsessed!

I just can't get enough of photography, I'm nearly a total basket case! I take the camera everywhere. To work, to the tracking station, to mums for dinner, to friends birthdays, I get up at the crack of dawn to catch the sun come up, I stay up all night to shoot the stars in my obsession observatory, or disappear into the dark mountains all night for wide field and time lapse, risking dangerous and isolated climbs for the right shot.

Today, my friend and I narrowly escaped death as we finished up this morning by stepping on a very large and most upset snake. I have never heard a snake hiss before, nor seen a bloke or a snake jump so high and fast!

What a day!

Great set of shots Baz .... you are right though, you have to take the camera everywhere ... to get the right shot .... and can be a wee bit addictive.
havent taken hardly any macro shots for ages ( been in Europe for 7 weeks) but look forward to getting outside into those insects and flowers. Well done . Love 6 and 7, tho the birds are very cute

I know what you mean. Sometimes I wish I could just walk around every where, with the camera permenantly fixed to my eyeball. They are all fantastic!! Number three is just amazing though!! Well done indeed!

Makes me tired just thinking about it. Your macro stuff's coming along nicely baz, looks like you may have the birding bug as well.

That's a fantastic set! Lovin the depth of field your getting. Those bird shots are great. Lighting/exposure great in all of them. You've come a million miles, mate. No stopping you now!

Encouragement from like-minded and appreciative people is a crucial part of any photographer's journey in spurring them on to do better, especially if they know if they are on the right track or not.

Blokes like you Troy, and David, and countless others who have all offered great C&C, advice and information are just the best thing since sliced bread.

If I am anywhere near becoming a good photographer, it's thanks to the fine folks on IIS and many other supportive forums.

Mate, people can give all the advice they want, but it's up to you to take it on board and practice it. And you certainly have! The results are speaking for themselves. You're using full manual all the time now? Getting a good feel for exposure, focus and depth of field?
