my first go at using a HA filter wow what a new learning curve, apart from not being able to see what i was imaging and then haveing to have ago at processing the beast this was something very different.10x8min shots darks and flats processed in p/s.could use some guidence here.
ALAN
hey alan, did you split the RGB chanels apart? if not thats one of the first steps im lead to belive as the G and B is just noise. Apart from that you hvae done well to capture some good detail but the processing needs a bit more attention how. im not 100% as im still crawling myself! though some of the others here have had a good crack at it! Good luck
Pretty cool Allan but I think something got clipped during processing. Your whole dynamic range is not there. Looks posterized around the core. Other than that top shot.
Nice image Allan but as Marc has pointed out the core has suffered a bit during processing. Maybe during the curve stretch you have dropped the bright end of the curve too much while trying to preserve the core and actually damaged it. Far better to copy and blend the core during processing then you may get a bit more out of the main area of the nebula while retaining the core.
Thanks everyone
Brendon i split the channels and used the red channel only then converted it to greyscale .
Marc thanks i did some processing in pixilinsight and used wavelet transfer to bring the overexposed core down but your right it sortof posterized it.HA is areal learning curve.
The weather has been a shocker for any real astro shots just to hot and moist
thanks Jen
