Saw 2012 Last Night
My family (made up of baby boomers and Gen Y) saw 2012 last night. We all thought it was awful but agreed that the special effects were good and if that's enough to carry a moive for you then you would probably enjoy it. The story line is formula and cliché right to the very end.

So Claude, were the ancient Mayans right? Should we bother packing?

Yeah Chris, surprise, surprise the Mayan "prediction" was spot on. The only ones who kept having to revise their estimates were the best scientific minds of the 21st century; "Its happening much sooner then we expected Mr Prisedent". Close up on Mr President, looking very concerned and statesman like .

It sounds like it won't be too long before it's in the "2 for $10" bargain bin at the local DVD shop.
I don't mind watching these types of movies, always cheesy and good fun to pull apart.
Cheers

I'll go and see it, regardless of the reviews.
I'll approach it in the spirit of light entertainment, which it is, and suspend my disbelief for a couple of hours.
If I want genuine science/fact, I'll watch a BBC doco

Agree with Matt. Suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride.
Love me Apocolypse / Post Apocolypse films.
I wish somebody (talented) would make "A Colder War" into a flick.
That would be a great film!

Yep - another here. Couldn't give even ONE hoot in reference to it's believability or adherence to fact. Go for the ride and enjoy. I'll see it at a GoldPass cinema to get the full effect.

That's typical of a Roland Emmerlich movie. All his movies are like that...was there the obligatory cheesy line (or two) add in for good measure or supposed dramatic effect.

Great! I hope it's just like his other movies. He's become the master of disaster/apocalype films...which I love
As for the cheesy line here or there?...I just have a laugh and keep rolling with the action. I'm honestly not there for the thoughtful, snappy dialogue!!!
