Favourite Movie Theme

What's your favourite movie theme?

At the moment I'm into the Apollo 13 soundtrack. Available on Youtube.

Shane

My favorites are Ennio Morricone's "The Mission" soundtrack, Vangelis "The Bounty", Howard Shore's "The Lord of the Rings"trilogy, Trevor Johns/Randy Edelman "Last of the Mohicans", John Williams "Star Wars" trilogy.......these ones come straight to mind {oh the St Elmos main theme too, so many}

Wow, so many to choose from, but the first that comes to mind is the music from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The main theme is pretty good, even made it into the charts, but for me it's the music during the 3-way mexican standoff toward the end of the movie.... "The Ecstasy of Gold" composed by Ennio Morricone, genius.

The theme from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is up there too. "Journey of the Sorcerer" by the Eagles.

The soundtrack for The Fifth Element is wierd but cool.

Einleitung

Hi Shane & All,

Yep the music for the Star Wars films was superb I thought as others have commented. I think the Apollo sound track was also very good -- as was the music from The Dish.

Another one that comes to mind is the music for Chariots of Fire by Vangelis and of course the theme for The Exorcist by Mike Oldfield and the music for The Killing Fields -- also by Mike Oldfield.

But for mine the most memorable of all was the opening theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Einleitung from Also sprach Zarathustra that went something like:

Daaa DAaaa DAAaaaa Da Daaaa,
Boom, Bom, Boom, Bom, Boom, Bom, Boom, Bom, Boom, Bom, Boom, Bom,Boom, Bom,
Daaa DAaaa DAAaaaa DAA DEEeee,
Da Da Da Da Daaa DAaa DEee Phrum, Phrum, Phrum, Phrum, Phrum,
Da DAa DEee Da DAAaa DEEeeeeeeeeeeee ......

... or something like that anyway.

You can listen to is here:

Best,

Les D

Ahhh yes, nice one Les, Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield... one of my favourite albums. I forgot that was the theme for The Exorcist.

i agree with local hero too, recent faves were The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, nick cave and co, and ironman was pretty good i thought..for contemporary music, further back, nick again, the proposition, and then 'o brother where art thou', just to name a few

+1. One of the most recogniseble themes imho.

Another one that is pretty recogniseble is the Harry Potter theme.

I'm also a fan of the Bram Stoker's Dracula soundtrack - the composer is brilliant.

Too hard to choose, for a start I would have to agree with all that have been mentioned already.

I will also add the James Bond Theme by Monty Norman, that's a timeless piece.

Cheers
