MPAS at Bentleigh Festival, Sunday November 21

It's that time of year and MPAS will again have a presence at the Bentleigh Festival on Centre Road from 10:00am to 4:00pm http://www.shopbentleigh.com.au/events.asp only this year we may actually have some spots to look at! Unfortunately, yet again, the Moon doesn't make an appearance until well after the event is over. So if you live in the Bentleigh area, or have friends or relatives in the area, drop in for a look at the Sun or a chat about all things astronomical, or if you are a member you are welcome to help out. We normally get at least 500 people during the day, most of whom never expected to see an astronomical group at such an event.

We had a fantastic turnup at the festival yesterday, I think I showed between 100 and 150 people the Sun, one of the other guys also had his PST set up for some of the time and also had queues. Everyone was so amazed that they could see the Sun through a telescope..safely! We even had one guy turn up who looked familiar...I just can't place the face. If you have a local street festival and would like to promote astronomy, enquire with the organisers about participating. We get so many people every year who have thought our stand was the best part of the whole thing.
