Hey all.
This is the first of two targets I imaged last night.
1hr and 5min of 5min subs @ ISO 800. ICNR on.
ed80
20d
guided qhy5
Deep Sky Stacker
CS3 - curves, curves, curves etc etc Highpass filter, saturation, cropped
gunna do a repro on this asap because there's so many different ways to interpret this data.

Very nice. So many stars in that pic that have not seen through my scope.
I was amazed the first time I saw the tarantula nebula through my nebula filter.

Very nice field JJJ. Bit blue to my taste but I guess that's the DSLR sensitivity. Cool shot.

just about everything looks good in this image except the colour JJJ. Might I suggest you force the red in the curves a little.

Wind?? Nary a whisper over here.
I haven't got any energy left to drag everything out to set up.
Only got a couple of hours sleep last night, then this hot weather today and working this evening. I'm going to veg on the couch and watch a movie instead.

Nice image JJJ. A hard one with an unmodded DSLR. The OIII sensitivity of the DSLR and the lack of Ha sensitivity tends to make this target quite blue. Your red injection has improved the image quite a bit although sliding the red back in the shadows area of colour balance will remove some of the red from the background and keep it in the mid tones and highlights only but only after increasing the red overall in curves.

Version 3 is much better Jeanette, The shadows area is still a little red/green but you have to draw the line somewhere. It is a very busy piece of sky so a small amount of star reduction using a minimum filter may improve the image a bit more. You can always go into Edit/fade minimum after doing a minimum filter and fade it back to 50%. That is if you use PS CS.
Between you and me we might have a higher score for Sidonios than he himself. LOL.

I think you've got a good image there for sure Jeanette. Battling with data from a camera insensitive to Ha doesn't make it easy though! Version 3 is much better.

I'm never sure it's a good idea to tweak other peoples images but I only try when I think I see good data. Hope you don't mind!! Anyway, I evened up the histograms, lessened the green cast and highlighted the reds a bit more. It's hard to do on a tiny jpeg but I think you'll see the effect I'm driving at. You can be the judge whether it's an improvement or not!

Cheers, Marcus
