old German camera/and lenses

Had a friend call in this morn,he wanted an old kero lamp,i did'nt

particularly want to part with one of my lamps, anyhow he paid for it

with box of old camera gear(i think he got the better end the deal)

I thought i'd post the camera/gear here to see if anyone new if

it was of any value($10 would be good,as thats what lamp was worth)

The camera is Voighander with built in lens F2.8 50mm zoom, made in W.Germany.the lenses are most likly throw aways,

1.pentax/eyemik zoom 135mm

2. pentax 55mm zoom (this even has a lens cap!)

3.hanimex 80 to 200 zoom

This is all old film gear lenses,my wife has a very similar one to 3

i have been telling her to throw it out for years,

The old German camera may be of interest to a collector.

Be interested to here some feed back, thanks C

Voigtlander...Vito CL...worth around $25 or so...the lenses look in bad shape - grime and probably fungi on the rear elements. The Hanimex lenses will be rubbish - soft at both the middle and edges, even at f8 (typically the best f stop for sharpness with most lenses). They're probably all worth no more than $25-35 tops imho (for the lot of lenses, not including the voigtlander on the camera itself). Whole lot, camera 7 lenses is probably worth $50-60. And that's if the camera is in good working order, it probably isn't.

Voigtlander made/make very good cameras. Voigtlander lenses (originals) are very sharp and very good quality, rivalling Leicas imho. You can get new Voigtlander Bessa R6 units for under a grand these days, and they are *very* good value. Bare in mind that these are rangefinders, not SLRs.

If the camera was in good working condition, yeah, sounds fair to me. The shutter is probably sticking though. It's not a rare enough camera for someone to "collect". Better models to pick. Most people going for cameras of this vintage will probably go for a Leica IIe - IIIf etc.

Put it on Ebay with a buy it now (at the price you think is reasonable, don't let others here sway you .... might be bargain hunters trying to get a valuable / collectable camera and lenses for nix).

If it sells it sells, if it doesn't , you'll know better the TRUE market value..

Umm Ian, I wouldn't buy it if it was up for sale to me. I have no need or desire for this camera or the lenses. I will eventually get the aforementioned Voigtlander Bessa R6A, but it will be bought new and vastly different to this. These cameras are quite common. 2 things drive collectibles - demand and rarity. Even if something is rare as hens teeth, if there's no demand, it'll pull no value.

Dave

edit: I've given Chris what I believe is a fair price - he's a big lad, he can do some shopping around on EBay and see what similar units are going for (in fact, I believe he should do that).
