Not to worry Trevor soon the sky will clear, the moon will fail to rise and the 100km/h morning easterlies and 200km/h afternoon freo doctor will set in . Not worrying about setting up for some weeks yet.
Then the mossies will be out, will be trying to keep ourselves and camera's cool
what other things
1. mowing the lawn (nah to humid)
2. housework (nah might as well be bored)
3. cleaning the pool (kids don't use it anymore see 2)
4. gardening (nah see 1)
Don't talk to me about humidity and clouds!!! Up until 2 weeks ago I hadn't seen clear skies at home for about 5 months. I'm from Perth but I am living in Thailand at the moment. The few clear nights recently have also been nights that I have had other commitments, usually involving drinking like last night. Now my head hurts!!!

Back to topic The weather is /was pretty ordinary but alas nobody can do anything about it and summer is just around the corner with scopes and camera's smoldering in the heat wreaking havoc on the carefully collected pictures (just a pity the camera's don't drink "insert favorite beverage here" to stay cool ).
Had planned to get the scope out last night, providing the weather cleared. It stayed cloudy all day so I thought "why bother?" and had a few drinks with my father in law. As the sun was setting I noticed it was relatively clear, and well after sunset I wandered outside and the sky was almost completely clear. By this stage I was way too "tired" to do anything.
It looks good for tonight. Has anyone seen the sculptor galaxy from urban skies?
Malcolm, it looks good (Partly Cloudy) next Saturday for Bakers Hill. I cant wait to bring my scope out Then again if I go it will probably rain out...............
Bakers Hill is a viewing night we have on every new moon weekend. It is on the great Eastern Highway past Mundaring (At the Bakers Hill Equestrian Club). Theres a big paddock were you can set up your scopes. We stay up to around 10pm to 11 pm on clear nights. If you want to go you will have to contact ASWA on their website in my signature below.
I haven't used a scope since IISAC (and I wasn't well enough to do much of that there either). It's been cloudy every night except one, but I had a family function to attend to on that night... I've had a few nights which were spectacularly clear in the afternoon, just to get my hopes up but clouded in as soon as the sun went down.
I suppose I have to expect it with a new rig setup in the obs waiting for first light...
Lovely clear skies, magnificent, Barely see Andromeda Galaxy, Can't see any stars in the Cetus Constellation so I assume I won't see the Sculptore Galaxy. How depressing.
Bring on the light pollution. I have got to get out of this place.

I deliberately looked for it given my C8 just arrived this week. I can definitely see it from urban Perth with my favourite eyepiece the pentax xw14 although nothing like the photo I took a few weeks ago of it. I have been dabbling in astrophotography the last few months and neglecting the visual side. After collimating the SCT on Friday it was a joy to have such pleasure with visual astronomy even with average seeing conditions. I've been lucky enough to have 2 very clear satellite transits of Jupiter on those 2 nights, have a wow with 47 Tuc and of course Orion.
